Positions Available
 

CAMP COUNSELOR


NO MUSIC EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
In this position you will serve as a mentor for your assigned band(s) of girls and make sure they are where they need to be at all times. Camp Counselors with musical experience may also coach campers on their instruments throughout the day and during band practice. We need approximately 8 Camp Counselors.


INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTOR


MUSIC EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Want to teach a musical instrument to girls with varying ability? Music instruction will take the form of group lessons, which will be divided by age group (age 8 to 11, and 12-15). The musical experience of our campers will vary greatly. Some may have previous music experience whereas others may have never even touched an instrument. You may meet or email with your fellow instrument instructors before orientation to decide on a curriculum, and what style/ level of experience each instructor is comfortable teaching. This position combines well with band coach or workshop leader for a full day of volunteering! Otherwise this may be a part-time position.


Part-time instructors will however need to be available to teach each day. We are looking for instructors for bass, drums, guitar, keyboard and a choir director. We need 8 Instrument Instructors. 

BAND COACH

SONGWRITING KNOWLEDGE NEEDED

Band coaches help the campers during band selection on the first day and assist them each day during band practice. You will help the campers learn how to play as a group (both musically and interpersonally), as well as help them to prepare a song for the showcase. You are welcome to make this a full time position by partnering with the Camp Counselor. Band coaches, although part-time, must be available each day. We need a total of 8 Band Coaches.

WORKSHOP LEADER

NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Each of our workshops values the encouragement of creativity, self-expression, and awareness of our campers. Workshops will be loosely divided by age, and may be taught twice throughout the day. This is a great supplement position for instrument instructors whom would like to stay at camp through the day. Some workshop examples may be: zine writing and production, history of women in rock, songwriting, sound recording, body image and identity.

 

LEAD ROADIE

AUDIO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

The Lead Roadie must know how to set up a complete practice space, how to set up and run sound for lunchtime shows, how to run the camp’s various sound boards for panels, be able to move sound partitions, ensure that equipment is treated well, and use interpersonal skills to work with other staff so that they can best utilize the roadie crew. We need 1 full-time Lead Roadie or 2 part-time Lead Roadies.

 


ROADIE


NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Help set-up, breakdown, and move equipment throughout the week. Responsibilities include: re-configuring rooms for band practice everyday, helping with load in/out, and generally assisting Lead Roadie. We need at least 1 Roadie everyday. 

​SHOWCASE VOLUNTEER

NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Help with the green room, stage hand tasks, merch sales, raffle ticket sales, raffle prize organization, general set up. We also need people to help get gear from camp to the showcase venue the morning of the Showcase. 


MED TEAM


NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
The med team should be available throughout the day in case of medical emergencies, minor accidents, helping campers with special medical needs, prescriptions, and assisting the Front Desk and Conflict Resolution Crew as
needed. We need 1-2 people on Med Team.


CAMP SUPPORT CREW
NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY


Throughout the week, you will be called upon to help with daily morning set up, camper check in/out, serving lunch to volunteers, picking up donations, camper lunch supervision, general clean up (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, taking out trash, bathroom cleanup), moving gear, Showcase assistance, and other tasks that help
everyone have a great day at Rock Camp. As many as want to help. 

 

CONFLICT RESOLUTION CREW

NO MUSIC EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Provide support, conflict resolution, and crisis management for campers ages 8-15, as well as support for staff and volunteers throughout the week. Conflict Resolution Crew Members can also act as a receptionist, med team, instrument instructor, or band coach. Experience with teenagers in a counseling or education environment is recommended. We need 2 Conflict Resolution Crew volunteers. 

 

FRONT DESK

NO MUSIC EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

From the front desk, the receptionist helps with Monday morning camper registration, daily camper check in and out, monitors visitors, handles phone calls, gives directions, answers questions, and sells camp merchandise as well as Showcase and raffle tickets. We need 2-6 reception volunteers.

 

CAMP PHOTOGRAPHER

NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Experienced photographer to take candid shots, ID photos for campers and volunteers, camper band photos, lunchtime band photos, large group photographs, and Showcase documentation. 

 

FOOD CREW

NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Prepare breakfast and lunch for approximately 20 volunteers and an afternoon snack for approximately 30 campers. Menus and food donations are worked out by our Food Crew Leads, so Food Crew members just have to follow the Leads’ instructions. Food Crew is responsible for keeping the kitchen and prep areas clean as well as post-lunch clean up. 

 


FLOATER


NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Available to help with last minute needs (running errands, helping fill-in for another volunteer, generally lending a hand). This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn’t have musical experience but really wants to help
support BGRC!

 


RUNNER


NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Available to help with last minute needs, runs to the store, filling in for another volunteer, generally lending a hand as necessary. This position requires a car. This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn’t have musical experience but really wants to roll up their sleeves and help!
